[fodDB 2011] Discussion

Wow, if you think that the Geox Test Team is strong, you should really go and check Belgian clubs like Ovyta - Eijssen and the development team of Omega Pharma! These are still a lot better then Geox and in fact better then all continental teams in here, except for maybe Wallonie. In fact they even own a lot of riders of Pro Continental-teams and even some of WT-teams when they're doing races together, and that with mostly u23 riders. Logically they deliver a big bunch of the neo pros every year...

To give a simple example: the best Belgian in the Tour of Denmark (Zico Waeytens, 9th) was a 19-year old trainee who is normally riding for the Omega Pharma development team... And he's not the biggest talent here.

The biggest (to be honest, only) foreign name in Danish amateur cycling is Ondrej Pavek. Ever heard of him?
While in Belgium many teams have foreign riders who even are U23 champions back home. And while the best Danish talents get a place on a Continental team as soon as they're out of the junior ranks, the best Belgian talents don't - they have to earn that in the club teams. But when they show themselves, they normally go straight to a PCT or WT team.
So to a non-Belgian like me, the biggest Belgian talents aren't as present as the biggest Danish talents may be to you.

On the jersey front it's going relatively well.

However, we can use all the help we can get in stage editing. Are you familiar with that?

after all I found the way back here. Holiday was ok, but now there's soooo much work to do. I'm sorry, but I can't find time to contribute here at the moment, but really love to see some of you still doing great work. I hope for next week to find time to do some more database updates and include all your work in the project, so we can get a first playable version as soon as possible!

Ah, sorry, Stage editing is the only thing, I can't do.

Too bad.
If you feel up to it, you can try to learn it. But be advised that it isn't easy at all, and can be very frustrating. So you should only try your hands on it if you really want.
If not, there are many other ways to contribute. For instance, I don't know how the status on riders' pictures is. crxfod should be able to answer that.

I already tried it a few years ago. Well, I have to say, I'm not motivated anymore to try it again.
Riders Picture is maybe a possibillity.

That's always the problem with holidays. After it, you have too much work and no energy to do it

Anyway, I know the problem of having too little time. I really really do hope tough that you can create a beta/testversion soon, I can't wait! Also on the Belgian PCM-forum people are now eagerly waiting for a release, I see

Pls forget all these interesting youngsters posted here earlier, to me it seems that would be an ideal extra for a possible later version. Anyway, I send you my final list of stats suggestions now, so you don't have to wait for that one too

I also sent several files (regions and spelling of names).

What are still genreal things to do? I'm afraid that, after the lot of work since today, this project will be forgotten

I'm still hoping so hard this db will see the light! Maybe what we got wasn't 100% finished yet, but I'm sure it is/was allready fantastic to play! C'mon crxFod, please release what you have allready in return for the time we put in it * praying *

Didn't even know you had crxfod's email If he has no time to finish the db the way he wanted it to be, he could even upload everything here and I could see what I could do to finish it with whatever stuff what's really necessary for a release. I was sooooooooooo much looking forward to this db, and there has been so much incredible work done, I don't want it to be wasted!

That's what I wrote to him too.

I got his mail (or he mine) sometime in the early stages of the DB development, to exchange ideas and files.
Now we can only wait for his reply. Hopefully it will come soon.

I tried another contact, but I'm not overly optimistic.
